Your future team
The business is an established organisation in the Data, Risk Modelling and Analytical services market. We pride ourselves on our ability to identify and develop innovative solutions for our clients, continually driving performance and service standards thereby cultivating long-term client relationships.
The Data Team is integral to the formulation of these solutions across Architecture and Engineering, Data Management and Application Development. With a focus on continuous improvement, the team has wide experience in designing and delivering full end to end solutions for our clients. We work closely with clients and all members of the team interact with our customers directly on a daily basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a data specialist to work across risk and regulatory projects in Banking and Insurance and broaden out their knowledge.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge by working with an innovative team of like-minded people, not only focusing on toolsets and approaches but also on changes within the industry.
What you'll do
As a Data Consultant you will have responsibility for delivering projects. Leveraging your experience, intellect and curiosity you will provide insight and challenge to make sure that the right decisions are made to have maximum impact for our clients.
Requirements
- Complete projects set by line manager and the business accurately and within the scope and deadlines set.
- Deliver own analysis and data projects and work with others in the team to deliver larger projects as required.
- Your responsibilities will include producing in-depth risk reports, distilling complex data into actionable insights, working alongside credit risk and insurance experts.
- Working in a fast-paced delivery environment essential.
- Good working knowledge (at least 2+ years hands-on experience) of SQL or Python.
- Experience of working in Financial Services within Risk and Regulation project deliveries.
- Communication Skills – Good communicator: verbal, written, and bringing results and recommendations to life.
- You should have hands-on experience working on at least three of the following:
- Databricks, Snowflake or Hadoop – Distributed File Systems.
- Experience using Cloud technologies – Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
- Experience working with large data sets and big data tools (i.e. Spark, Scala, Hadoop, etc).
- Experience with technical design, problem solving and debugging.
- Interest in improving engineering systems & practices and creation of high-quality software.
- Experience of ETL tooling, metadata conversion management, Informatica and/or SAS DI Studio.
- Understand Data Modelling from 3NF to Star Schema; Knowledge of Data Warehousing techniques.
- Release management tools such as GitHub, Kubernetes or Docker.
Desirable but non-essential experience:
- Exposure to Business Analysis capability relating to Operating Model for data lineage and data quality, perhaps using tools such as Collibra, Solidatus and Alation etc.
- Experience in Data Visualizations – Power BI, Tableau, Dash, COGNOS, Spotfire, etc.
- Django, Java Script, Microsoft Power Apps or any other application development experience is an advantage.
- Experience in creation of Functional and Non-Functional Technical requirements, including Data Dictionaries, mapping documents etc.
- Good working knowledge (hands-on experience) of R, SAS and Spark SQL advantage.
- Agile development practices and tools (Jira/Confluence/GitHub or other DevOps tools).
- Exposure to AI / ML methodologies and best practices.
Industry Knowledge, advantage but not required:
- Exposure to contributing to Internal Rating Based (IRB) and regulatory change projects (Basel, IFRS 9).
- Industry knowledge of Data Governance – Model Risk Management and BCBS 239 advantageous.
- Exposure to Insurance industry, including Solvency II and IFRS 17.
- Working knowledge of Probability of Default, Exposure At Default and Loss Given at Default; Economic Loss Calculation, Recoveries and the data items required to support each calculations and disciplines an advantage.
- Exposure to a Regulatory reporting environment, such as FinRep, CoRep etc.
- Exposure to Credit Bureau submissions.
